How It Works

To graduate from the 11th Judicial District Recovery Court, participants must complete all 5 phases of the Recovery Court program. Participants will be in the program for at least 12 months.


Eligibility Requirements
  • Eligible for SB 123 and SB + pursuant to K.S.A. 21-6824
  • Screened as high-risk of reoffending/high-need based upon substance use disorder
  • Participant must be 18 years or older
  • Participant must initially reside in Cherokee, Crawford, or Labette County
  • No prior violent convictions



As part of the Recovery Court program, participants are required to do the following:​​​​
  • Follow all supervision rules, including curfew, and plan created with supervision officer
  • Submit to random drug tests
  • Attend all Recovery Court sessions
  • Follow treatment plan created with treatment provider
  • Find safe and stable housing
  • Find approved full-time employment 
  • Build a safe and healthy routine 
  • SHOW UP, BE HONEST, AND TRY



Entry into the Program
  • Defendant reviews Recovery Court Handbook, signs Handbook Acknowledgment, and completes screening assessment with Court Services
  • PSI is completed and risk/need score is determined
  • Recovery Court Referral Form and Release of Information for Recovery Court Staffing is completed by Defendant with Community Corrections
  • Recovery Court Team screens for eligibility (disqualifying criminal history, open spot in program)
  • Defense counsel, prosecutor, and Community Corrections Director are notified if Defendant is eligible for Recovery Court Program
  • At sentencing, Court may order Defendant to complete Recovery Court as a term of their probation. Defendant is then ordered to report to Community Corrections to complete Participant Intake, sign Release of Information and Acknowledgment of Program, and attend next Recovery Court date
  • Upon entry into program, participant is provided defense counsel at no charge
